Ethel Lowder, 87, Sturgis, died at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care on Wednesday, February 1, 2006.

Ethel was born at Alexandria, SD, on October 15, 1918, to William George and Katherine Cecelia (Griffin) O'Connor. She grew up near Haydraw and attended grade school at the Barry School. On October 28, 1946, she was married to LeRoy "Buck" Lowder and the family ranched near Red Owl until his death in 1965. She moved to Sturgis and has lived here since.

Survivors include two cousins, Sister Maureen Griffin of Deadwood, SD, and Leo Griffin of Rapid City, SD; and several other cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Red Owl Cemetery.

There will be a time of fellowship at the Red Owl Hall following the committal service.
