Eugene Randolph Chiller, 77, Vale, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at his residence.
A memorial service is Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at 1:30 p.m., at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Skip Smith officiating. There will be a private family burial.
Eugene was born Jan. 9, 1929, at Belle Fourche, to Fred and Florence (Stienka) Chiller. His parents had a homestead eight miles north of Belle Fourche, which is where Eugene grew up. His family moved to Vale in 1948 and Eugene graduated from Vale High School in 1948. Eugene married Viola Coppo in Sturgis on Nov. 5, 1950. They moved to Lead where Eugene worked for Homestake.
They moved to Vale, and have lived at the farm since, except for a short time when they lived in Rapid City where he was a sheet metal and electrician apprentice.
Eugene was a member of the Vale Fire Department. He loved fishing, playing cards, traveling, and hunting. He enjoyed square dancing and whittling things out of wood.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Chiller, Vale; one son, Ian Chiller, Vale; one sister, Margaret Sheeler, Sturgis; and one grandchild, Ty Chiller, Vale.
His parents, two brothers, and one sister preceded him in death.
Memorials have been established to the Newell Ambulance and the Vale Fire Department.
