Eugene "Gene" Johnson, of Rapid City, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Rapid City Regional hospital, at the age of 69.

He was born October 22, 1947 to Gertrude (Meeds) and Norman L. Johnson. Gene is survived by his wife Marla (Millslagle) Johnson of 22 years, daughter Megan, son Jeremy, sisters June (David) Kilby, Mavis Cornelius and many nieces, nephews, friends and family - including Wayne Kilby, Rusty Kilby, Butch (Darlene) Cordes, and Lisa (Todd) Butler.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, sister Norma Pemberton, brother Gary Johnson and a favorite nephew Charles 'Chuck' Cordes.

Gene was raised in Rapid City, he owned and operated Auto Depot Body Shop early in his life and later was a Foreman at Rapid Construction. Gene was a loving father, husband and a friend to all. He enjoyed classic cars, the outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and riding his motorcycle.

A memorial service will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Rapid City VFW on Saturday, January 7, 2017. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established by his family. https://www.gofundme.com/genejohnson
