Eugene Edward Larsen, 84, of Rapid City, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Ft. Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis. 

He was born Monday, April 20, 1942 in Sioux Falls, SD to Walter and Ina (Hovland) Larsen.  Eugene enlisted in the US Army in and served honorably in Vietnam.  Upon his return home, Eugene worked as a mechanic and a truck driver.  He also enjoyed motorcycles and racing stock cars at the Black Hills Speedway.  Eugene had to leave racing behind when he learned that he was to be a father.  He had three children: Chris, Marla and Eric and later became a grandfather.

Eugene is survived by his sons; Chris and Eric Larsen and his granddaughter, Saige.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marla, sisters, Jan Cooper and Beverly Maines, Brother, Roland Larsen and his parents Walter and Ina Larsen.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. A funeral procession to Black Hills National Cemetery will follow and a committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m.
