Eugene A. Potter, 77, Rapid City, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at the Dorsett Health Care Center in Spearfish.
Eugene was born May 12, 1929, at Rapid City, SD, to Charles and Minnie V. (Saar) Potter.
He grew up in Rapid City and graduated from the Rapid City High School. He worked for his father in the family sawmill. For a short time he operated a planer mill at the Payton Sawmill before returning to the Potter Sawmill on Rimrock west of Rapid City. He owned and operated the sawmill for over 40 years.
Eugene retired due to health reasons and lived at the Dorsett Home for a short time.
Survivors include his brothers, Carlisle Potter, Whitewood, Sidney Potter and his wife, Edith, Mountain Home, Arkansas; sisters, Wanda Miller and her husband, Dale, and Lola Chiller, all of Torrington, WY; other family includes numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Thelma Rose, two brothers, Loren and Francis Potter.
Graveside services at the Whitewood Cemetery.
