Eugene "Gene" William Stafford

Eugene "Gene" William Stafford was born May 24, 1945, in Elkton, SD. In 1950, the family moved to Sturgis where Gene attended school, graduating from Sturgis Brown High School.

Gene entered the U.S. Army in 1966, serving for three years before being honorably discharged in 1969 as a Sergeant. Gene worked for many years throughout the Black Hills as a grocery manager. Gene was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper who loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Gene, 70, of Sturgis, SD, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Gleva Stafford; sons, Asa (Kimberly) Stafford and their three children and son, Zac (Peggy Sue) Hart and their two children; two sisters, Marge and Mary; along with other extended family & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa & Myrtle Stafford.
