Evelyn Mae Canaday, 77, of Chadron, Nebraska, got her wings and became an angel on December 19th, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

She was born February 3rd, 1938 in the Sandhills of Nebraska to Lloyd and Myrtle Ferrel. She was the oldest of two daughters.

On Feb. 16th, 1953 she married the "love of her life", Robert Canaday. To this union came four children, Bob Canaday of Yelm, Washington, Chris (Jim) Schommer of Sundance, WY, Vicky (Mike) Wolf of Petersburg, NE, and Rusty (Michelle) Canaday of Sturgis, SD. Thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Evelyn loved spending time with her family. She painted beautiful pictures, and crocheted many, wonderful pieces. She especially loved camping with family and her camping "family".

She was a member of the Does in the local Elk Lodge, and worked her way up to president.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Myrtle Ferrel, and her sister, Leona Pumphrey.

A celebration of her life will be held this coming summer.
