Evelyn was born December 10, 1925 at Howard, SD, to Hjalmer and Randi Marie (Larson) Arneson. Evelyn was raised in a loving family where she helped on the farm. She graduated from high school at Salem, South Dakota. During her high school years she met the love of her life, Bob Morrison. She patiently waited for him to return from his duties in the Navy during World War II.
She married Bob at Sioux Falls, SD on March 10, 1946. Evelyn and Bob made there first home in Wahpeton, ND while Bob attended school. They moved to Salem, SD and transferred to many towns along the way with Bob's work. After Bob's death in 1990, Evelyn returned to Sturgis.
Throughout her life, Evelyn was devoted to her church. She taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, was a member of a church circle and helped in the kitchen. She painted prayer bowls for the Sunday School kids.
Evelyn enjoyed Rosemaling. Grace Lutheran has several examples of her artistry. She has painted upstairs, downstairs and everywhere in between at least twice.
Evelyn was also a 60 year member of PEO, Black Hills Rosemalers and the Grace Lutheran Church Quilters.
She enjoyed traveling and visited Rome and a great portion of Europe. She went to Norway many times. She painted every district of Norway in her own special way.
She cruised to Alaska and traveled to Canada with friends. She spent several bus tours going to both East and West Coasts to see the sights.
Evelyn was an active Grandmother and participated in her grandchildren's activities. She browned a lot of hamburger for the concession stand at the ball park for many summers.
Her family includes her son John (Becky) Morrison, Floresville, TX; daughter, Donna (Jim) Jacobsen, Sturgis; brother, Darrell (Mickey) Arneson, Spirit Lake, IA; sister, Darlene (Stan) Harms, Belle Fourche, SD; also 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and a special hospice nurse and dear friend, Meghan Eakins.
