Evelyn was born July 9, 1931, at Moretown, VT, to Leo and Rose Ella (Merril) Stearns. She grew up and attended school at Moretown. Evelyn married Edward Allen Tripp, Sr., on June 26, 1947, in East Hartford, CT. They lived a short time in East Hartford then moved to South Windsor, CT, and finally settled in Glastonbury, CT, where they lived for many years. They moved to Sturgis in 1994.

Evelyn was mostly a homemaker, but worked part-time for insurance companies. She then worked as a tax preparer for most of her life, her last employer being H & R Block in Sturgis.

Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whom will be greatly missed. She was a life-long member of the United Church of Christ. She loved to crochet, knit, read, and was a wonderful seamstress and upholsterer. Evelyn also loved the outdoors, camping, and going to Deadwood. She especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn was also the first to admit she did not like fish.

The past 10 years when her health failed, Ed was her caretaker. He remained faithfully by her side. They were married 64 years and still very much in love.
