Obituary

Exie Lee Brown, 90, Sturgis, died January 23, 2012, at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care unit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Arnold Kari Officiating. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2012, from noon to 7:00 p.m., with a rosary service beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Exie was born September 27, 1921, at Checotah, OK, to John Benjamin and Leora (Bascue) Jones. She attended school in Durant, OK, and went on to work briefly as a kindergarten teacher. She married Tony Ray Brown on February 2, 1941, at Durant, OK, and worked a short while in a local variety store. Exie and Tony moved all over the world while Tony was in the military. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, and mother. They moved to South Dakota while Tony was on assignment. They moved away for a while, but after Tony's death, Exie moved back to South Dakota to be closer to family. She was a wonderful caregiver to anyone that needed help.

Survivors include her daughters, Raylene Schlosser, Sturgis, SD, and Jeannie (Dwayne) Scott, Aurora, NE; six grandchildren, Rich and Billy Schlosser, Shane and Rhett (Rhonda) Wagner, Paige Hruza, and Jouni Laatikainen; six great-grandchildren, Kegan Hruza, Austin Wagner, Meghan Wagner, Megan Schlosser, Angelena Schlosser, and Billy Schlosser, III; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is her husband; one brother; one sister; one grandchild, William Tracy Schlosser; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Lee Wagner; and her parents.

A memorial has been established to the Cornerstone Mission.
