Obituary

PIEDMONT - Faith Eleanor Albrecht, 77, Piedmont, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be 8 AM to 5 PM on Monday, July 16, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. A Wake and Christian Prayer service will begin at 7 PM Monday evening at the Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont with Fr. Mark McCormick officiating. Burial follows at the Piedmont Cemetery.

Faith was born May 29, 1930, at Minot, ND, to Earl and Nellie (Stone) Guthrie. She was raised in Surrey, ND, and was Salutatorian of her high school class. She graduated from Minot Teachers College and taught elementary school in North Dakota before marrying Gene Albrecht in Minot, ND, on May 25, 1953. After farming in Towner, ND, the couple moved to Piedmont, SD, in November of 1966. They have been involved in the dairy and beef industry for over 40 years at their Big Elk Ranch on Bethlehem Cave Road.

Faith enjoyed the fine arts, literature, gardening and was known for her culinary skills. She served as a leader of 4H and Girl Scout clubs. She enjoyed being a member of an Extension Club in the Piedmont area. She was also a member of the Meade County Farm Bureau and was organist at the former St. Mary's Catholic Church in Piedmont. She served on the Meade County election board and was a substitute teacher.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Albrecht, Piedmont; one son, Grant Albrecht, Douglas, WY; five daughters, Melana (Rodney) Howe, Hettinger, ND, Kristie Berg, Piedmont, Sally (Brian) Dodge, Piedmont, Lois Oetker, Aurora, CO, Holly (Scott) Kopplin, Piedmont; two brothers, Doug (Margaret) Guthrie, Baytown, TX, Dennis Guthrie, Loveland, CO; two sisters, Lois Luchsinger, Minot, ND, Gail Nordstrom, Velva, ND. Her grandchildren are Nellie O'Reilly, Brandon Sinkbeil, Danica & Heidi Weappa, Tyler & Brianna Dodge, and Kyle & Clay Kopplin.

She greatly loved her children and grandchildren and supported them in their many activities and achievements.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a contribution to the memorial in Faith's name to the Piedmont Public Library.
