Flora Katheryn (Kranz) Messmore, 88, Sturgis, SD, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial follows at St. Aloysius Cemetery.

Flora was born January 20, 1918, at Sturgis, SD, to Leo W. Messmore and Anna A. Stolz Messmore. She grew up in Sturgis and worked at various businesses in Sturgis throughout her life. She married Leo H. Kranz on May 11, 1932. Her husband died June 22, 1991. Flora was one of the original volunteers at the Senior Center and RSVP. She was very loyal and put in over 30 years of her time to those organizations.

She was a member of the Sturgis Senior Citizens, Hospital Auxiliary, St. Francis Circle, and Altar Society.

Survivors include two nephews, Jackie and Eddie Schneider; one niece, Annetta Zumek; and a special friends, Kathy and her husband, Don Miller, Sturgis, SD; Linda Hoxie, Spearfish, SD.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters.

Memorials have been established to the St. Francis of Assisi Building Fund and the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
