Florence "Irene" Millin was born to Victor and Florence (Determan) Karrels on October 6, 1938, in Sturgis, SD.

She grew up on a family ranch in Bear Butte Valley east of town with her younger sister, Alice and brother, Mike.

She enjoyed being Dad's helping hand.

She went to country school in Bear Butte Valley the high school in Sturgis at St. Martin's Academy. After high school she continued her education at Mount Marty University in Yankton, SD.

In April 1960, she married Hugh E. Millin, and together they raised four children, Victor (Linda), Diane Fish (Sam), Vernon (Robin), and David (Tonya). She was blessed with eight grandsons, and two great-grandsons and found great joy in all of them.

She loved outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and gardening.

She shared her mother's traits and enjoyed cooking. She cooked for various restaurants in town, she managed the kitchen at the local V.F.W. and managed the Ranch House Café at Sturgis Livestock Market for many years. She enjoyed going to rodeos from Texas to Alberta, Canada and many in between.

She had a strong dedication to the Catholic Church and never missed a Mass even while out of town.

Florence Irene Millin, 82, of Sturgis died August 16, 2021, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Florence Karrels; husband, Hugh E. Millin.

Visitation will be Monday, August 23, 2021 from 5-7 pm with a rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church in Sturgis. Interment to follow at Bear Butte cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
