Obituary

Floyd W. Campbell, 93, Sturgis, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care Center.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Kinkade Funeral Chapel and will resume on Friday one hour prior to the services at the church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Keith Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Spearfish.

Floyd was born July 30, 1913, at Morristown, N.D., to Clarence and Pansy (Schaefer) Campbell. He grew up in North Dakota and moved to the Black Hills as a youth. He worked in logging with his father. He also worked at Homestake, and later in Coeur D'alene, Idaho, for a short time. Floyd worked at Spearfish Implement as a mechanic. He also moved to Rapid City and worked as a mechanic before returning to Sturgis. Floyd married Ruth Grant on Oct. 12, 1940, in Sundance, Wyo.

Floyd was a member of the United Methodist Church and the UMC Men's Group. He was also a member of the Golden K Kiwanis, and a life-member of the Sturgis Lions Club.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda (Rod) Hampton, Sturgis, and Marcia (Jim) Fairchild, Miles, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, four sisters, and one great-grandchild.

A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church.
