Floyd attended the Seymour country school near Strool. He attended high school in Hettinger and two years of Ag school in Brookings. Following his education he worked on his sister and brother-in-law's (Leotta and Bud Smith) ranch near Lodgepole. He bought a gravel truck and graveled roads from Faith to Shadehill and everywhere in between. Floyd and his brother Darrel farmed together in Perkins County.
Floyd married Margarite Thybo at Reva, SD on March 14, 1959. The couple farmed in the Alkali area East of Sturgis. They moved to Mound City and farmed for five years. Floyd attended Welding school in North Dakota and upon his return they moved to Wyoming where Floyd worked road construction. They moved to Vale in 1973 and continued to farm with his brother Darrell, raising cattle and a feeder to finish pork operation. After Floyd retired from farming he did woodworking and spent time with his family.
Throughout Floyd's life he had many dogs as his companions, most were named Tip, but Tipsy, Gypsy, and Christine were some of his friends.
Floyd volunteered time and labor at the Vale Park. He also enjoyed taking his nieces and nephews fishing throughout his entire life. He enjoyed all children and they loved Floyd in return. His nieces and nephews were his greatest joy.
Survivors include his wife Marge Wulf, Vale; one sister, Leotta Smith, Lodgepole; 27 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
