Frances Marie Olson, 61, Newell, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at her farm near Newell.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor H.B. Cleveland officiating. Inurnment will be at the Highmore Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established to Al Anon.

Frances was born December 26, 1948 at Highmore, SD, to Glen and Ella (Hirsch) Taylor. She grew up in Highmore and graduated from Highmore High School. She attended Huron College for one year before transferring to Black Hills State where she graduated with a teaching degree. She taught in Scranton, ND. She started teaching in Newell, SD, in 1978. She taught Science, Chemistry, Physics and Earth Sciences until retiring in 2007.

On May 31, 1987 she married Kenneth Olson at Ft. Meade, SD.

After retiring Frances worked at Campbell Supply in Sturgis in order to raise her sheep, goats, cats and dogs.

Survivors include her husband Kenneth Olson, Newell; two sons, Tony Olson, Nashville, TN, Michael Olson, Portland, OR; brothers, Joe Taylor, Aberdeen, SD, Glen Taylor, Rapid City, SD, Robert (Tammy) Taylor, Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Elie Taylor, Freeman, SD, Pauline (Leonard) Wift, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Frank.
