RAPID CITY - Francis Leon "Andy" Spriggle, 72, Rapid City, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at the VA Black Hills Health Care Center at Fort Meade.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Committal services, with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with Pastor Gordon Higgins officiating. Friends are encouraged to gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis prior to leaving for the cemetery.
Francis was born April 14, 1935, at Bay City, Wis., to Leon Francis and Cordelia (Brotton) Spriggle. After completing his education, Andy joined the Air Force and served his country honorably for 13 years. After gaining his honorable discharge, he bought a truck and started driving over the road for several years. He sold out and for the next 17 years he drove for Black Hills Trucking. He was a member of the DAV, VFW and Foresters.
Survivors include his son Leon (Annette) Spriggle, Oxfordshire, England; daughters, Irene (Dale) Anders, Rapid City, Ellen (Danny Hohn) Spriggle, Rapid City; brothers, Richard Spriggle, Plum City, WI, Douglas Spriggle, Arizona, Rolland Spriggle, Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Ethelyn Swanson, Battle Creek, MI, Joan (Ron) Peterson, Wickenburg, AZ, Dorothy Burke, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Lori, Rollie, Andrew and Leanne; and one great-grandchild, Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister and three brothers.
