MSG (Ret.) Frank Robert Boyd, III COLUMBIA - The homegoing service for MSG (Ret.) Frank R. Boyd, III will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church (7709 Wilson Boulevard, Columbia) with burial at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home (2930 Colonial Drive) has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Born in Columbia, SC, Frank was a beloved son of the late Frank R. Boyd, Jr. and Eloise Spry Boyd. He passed away on August 30, 2014 while vacationing in South Dakota.

After graduating from C.A. Johnson High School in 1966 and enrolling at Voorhees College, Frank was drafted by the United States Army. An honored veteran, he received several commendations for his service during the Vietnam War, including the Purple Heart. After his stint in the Army, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, retiring with Honors in 1989 as a Master Sergeant. He went on to earn a B.A. Degree from the College of Charleston in 2001. Frank was also a 32ø Mason. Ever the humanitarian and community activist, Frank received numerous accolades and awards for his efforts on behalf of children in need, the underprivileged and other worthy causes.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Albrecht Boyd; daughter, Ki'Yena; grandson, Brock; siblings: Alfreda, Tanda and Darrell; nieces and nephews: Tammie, Alicia, Ondria, Jasmine and Darrell; aunts, Mary, Edith and Nancy; and other loving relatives, friends and colleagues, all of whom will miss him dearly.
