Franklin Thomas Jones, 60, Isabel, died Saturday, 11/19/2011, at the Fort Meade VA Hospital.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. until time of services at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Committal services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Pastor Darla Dunn officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis prior to leaving for the cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
Frank was born August 6, 1951 at Jersey City, New Jersey to Egbert and Gladys (Davis) Jones. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge he became a police officer for the city of Orange, CA. He worked for Garrett Air Research in El Segundo, CA as an instrument tester.
He married Charin Bertsch Barone on November 7, 1979 at Cambria, CA.
Frank worked his way from runner to executive assistant to writer on the television sitcom "Gimme a Break". In 1989 he worked as a contract administrator for international film distribution. He then worked as a church administrator in Northern California before retiring to Isabel where he enjoyed the country living and working in the trucking business. His favorite time was cowboying.
Survivors include his wife Charin Barone, Isabel; two sons, Franklin Thomas Sperazzo, Jermell Machado Jones; three daughters, twin daughters, Thelicia Monique and Racquel Lynette Sperazzo and Lakeisha R. Jones; three brothers, Egbert Jones, William Jones and Alfred Jones; one aunt, Francis McCreary; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Leslie A Jones.
