Fred was born in Dupree, SD, on February 21, 1939, to Harry and Marian (Sever) Stambach. He grew up and attended elementary school in Lantry, SD, until 8th grade. The family then moved to Dupree and Fred finished his high school years there.
He married Gail Seymour on November 21, 1958, and they had 5 children, Cindy (Jake) Longbrake, Bret (Roxie) Stambach, Wade (Carla) Stambach, Mark (Monica) Stambach, and Julie (Travis) Lane. They have 13 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Fred and Gail also have an extended family that they thought of as their own, Rob Farlee, Johnna Watt, Enoch Farlee, and Delbert and Nila Woodward and their children.
Fred work hard his entire life, farming and ranching while still working full time at Farmers Union, Ziebach County, and his favorite of all, driving bus for the Dupree School District.
Fred Stambach, 79, Dupree, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at the Dupree School with Pastor Pauline Webb officiating. Burial will follow at the Dupree Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
