Freida Johnson Freida Johnson 83, Spearfish died Friday March 7th, 2008 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Center. Visitation will be at 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Monday, March 10th at the Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday March 11th at St Pauls Lutheran Church Spearfish with Pastor Bauman officiating. Burial follows at 1:30 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Freida was born on February 14th, 1925 at Golden Valley ND to Jacob and Martha (Nesper) Jacober. When she was 1 year old the family moved to Ridgeview, SD. She went to school in Ridgeview, completing school through 8th grade. Due to family hardships she was unable to complete High School; she had to care for her siblings on the family farm after losing her mother. Although, she was a dedicated and bright student, receiving a reward for penmanship in the 7th grade. Freida married Milton Alvah Johnson on January 2, 1947 in Pierre, SD. From the Union came 3 children, Wesley Johnson (Rapid City SD) Gregory Johnson (Wolsey SD) Michelle Feterl (Whitewood SD). Freida was a wife, mother and also worked in numerous areas of work. Freida was a gifted cook and sacrificial homemaker. She spent a great amount of time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She also enjoyed babysitting, reading, taking walks, writing letters, and having coffee with friends. Freida was a member of her local VFW, and Lutheran Church Ladies Aide. Survivors include her husband Milton, her children Wesley, Gregory, Michelle, and two Sisters, Norma Ruzicka (Highmore SD) and Helen Huebner (Valley City ND) and 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. To include a Special Family Terry and Nancy Weischedel and family (Gettysburg SD). She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Rose, sister Lydia, and 2 infant sisters, and 4 infant brothers, step-mother and 1 daughter Sara Jane.
