Gabe was born September 10, 1972, in Bagdad, AZ, where his journey began. He grew up in Spearfish, SD, most of his life. For a short period of time he lived in Flagstaff, AZ, where he was given his greatest gift from God, his two beautiful daughters.

He was a very nice and caring person he would lend a helping hand to anyone in need, give anyone his last dollar if it made them happy, a roof over their head for as long as they needed. He loved his two daughters, both of his dogs, and all of his nieces and nephews. They truly meant the world to him. He held a special place in his heart for anyone he ever met. Anyone that came into contact with him knew what a genuine individual he was.

The love he had for his daughters was known by everyone. He enjoyed the company of others, hiking, rocking hunting, fishing, fixer up projects, camping, driving through the hills, and most of all, listening to music in "his" bar. He has touched many lives and will be truly missed by many. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten.

Gabriel Fillipe Chavez, 45, of Sturgis died May 31, 2018, at his home.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jenica Chavez (Hunter Wilder) and Selicia Chavez; siblings: Corrina (Johnny) Ross and all of their children, Tanner Ross, Corrianna Ross, Skyler Ross, and Devin Ross; Jeffrey (Katie) Chavez and all of their children, Derek Chavez, his son, Cayden, Selina Chavez, and Abby (Lee) Smart; his father, Gabriel (Tina) Chavez; his grandparents, Dominga (Benny) Chavez, Gabriel B (Connie) Chavez; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he loved dearly.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with a vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, June 4, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Timothy Castor officiating.
