Obituary

Gary was born January 9, 1953, in Denver, CO. He grew up in Denver and Thornton. Gary graduated from Highland High School in Thornton. When his parents retired to Arizona, he bought their home to raise his family.
He enjoyed fishing and had fishing competitions with his older brother, and only sibling, Larry. One of his favorite memories was catching a prize-winning fish with Larry in an ice fishing contest. Larry and Gary were very close and Larry spent many summers on Gary's property in South Dakota.
Gary and Larry also participated in dirt track racing at Erie Race Track in Colorado. They each had race cars painted Burt brothers blue, with Gary's car number 67 and Larry's car number 76 where they raced at the Colorado National Speedway, Bomber Class Division, in Erie, CO.
He worked at the University of Colorado Health Science Center as a locksmith. Gary helped open the new campus on the old Fitzsimmons Army Base.
Gary was married three times. His first wife was Megan Adsit (deceased). He then married Cynthia Gerhardt.
Gary fell in love with the Black Hills while he was here for the Sturgis Rally. In 2001, he and his bride, Carol Deneke, bought a home and 2 acres in the Black Hills. They were married on the front deck during bike week 2001 and have enjoyed 17 years together. Gary enjoyed hunting deer and turkeys in the hills. He also enjoyed riding his Harley.
