Gary Eugene Eckhart, 61, Sturgis, went to join his loving wife, Nancy in Heaven on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Sturgis Regional Hospice.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 21, 2014 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating.

Gary Eugene Eckhart came into this world on July 31, 1952. He was born in Deadwood, SD to Ellsworth and Emma Eckhart.

He graduated from Lead High School in 1970. On December 18, 1971 he married Debbie Markve. To this union he was blessed with two daughters, Jennifer Eckhart Sherman, Rapid City, and Leslie Eckhart, Lead, SD. On April 30, 1982, in Delano, CA he married Nancy Swenby. To this union he was blessed with a son, Jeremy Eckhart and a daughter, Jessie Eckhart both of Sturgis, SD.

Gary is survived by his children, Jennifer, Leslie, Jeremy (Kelsey) and Jessie; his sisters, Virginia Eckhart, Lead, Eleanor Adamson, VA; a brother, Darwin Eckhart, Lead; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife Nancy; his parents; and two sisters, Darlene Dillman and Kay Penrod.
