Gary Lee Pierce, known only as "Nez" by his friends, was born August 24, 1960, in Ekalaka, Montana, to Ralph and (JoAnn) Pierce. He was raised and attended school in Charlo, Montana, graduating from Charlo High in 1978. On January 31, 1979, Nez enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving four years before being honorably discharged as an E-4 on January 28, 1983.

Nez served as a cook while in the Navy, and after his discharge, moved to Gulfport, MS, where he began a career in cooking. He cooked for various groups and in numerous places, while enjoying the open road on his Harley connecting with people from all walks of life. Nez also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had lived for the last number of years in Casper and Gillette, WY.

Gary L. "Nez" Pierce, 55, of Rozet, Wyoming, died suddenly and unexpectedly January 2, 2016 in Ekalaka, MT.

Grateful for having shared his life are his siblings, Roy (Shari) Pierce, Deadwood, SD, and Anne Marie and Darlene Pierce, both of Apache Junction, AZ; uncles, Delbert Rabe, Seattle, WA, Cal (Sandra) Pierce, Billings, MT and Jimmy (Cathy) Pierce, Lake Ford, ID; his aunt, Florence (Kelly) Yockum, Tehachapi, CA and his faithful companion, Butterbean, his Australian Shepherd.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 13, at 2:00 pm, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at 3:00 PM, at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis. Please join the family for fellowship and refreshments following the graveside at the Vet's Club, 868 Main Street, Sturgis, South Dakota.

Nez was preceded in death by his parents; his life partner, Renee; and other extended family.
