Gary Robert Ott, M.D, 74, passed away July 13, 2023, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home.

Gary was born on March 29, 1949, to Robert and Jeanne Ott, in Toledo, Ohio.  He graduated from E.L. Bowsher High School in 1967 and enrolled at The University of Toledo, where he graduated in 1971.  Following college he attended the School of Medicine at the University of Louisville, graduating in 1975.  Dr. Ott was on the front lines of medicine starting with his residency at Highland Hospital, in Rochester, NY until his retirement from the VA Health Care System at Fort Meade in August 2019, where he spent the last 25 years of his career.

Dr. Ott met the love of his life, Carol Sanford, while practicing medicine at Margaretville Memorial Hospital, and were married in 1993.  Dr. Ott was a very loyal and dedicated physician, spouse, and friend, often electing to place his family, friends, and patient's care above all else.  His generosity and goodwill spilled over into many areas of his life, as Carol and him were frequent supporters of charities that focused on the well-being of animals, children, and veterans.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, and his parents, Robert and Jeanne.
