Gene Jensen, 73, of Sturgis, SD, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Monument Health Care Center in Sturgis. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Gene Delbert Jensen was born March 17, 1952, in Rapid City, SD, to Virgil and Francis Johnston Jensen. He grew up in Kimball, SD, and graduated from Kimball High School in 1970. Gene was an over-the-road trucker for over 40 years. After retiring, he moved to Rapid City, where he worked briefly. He then moved to Sturgis, learning to tolerate the annual Bike Rally. He was employed at Shenanigans, where everyone became his family and great friends. When Gene wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing and riding the trails of the beautiful Black Hills with his friends. During NASCAR season, you would find Gene glued to the tv.

Gene loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially during the holidays at his parents’ home. He also looked forward to family celebrations filled with memories and laughs with all of his cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Gene is survived and will be missed by his two sons: Dana (Carla) Jensen of Mitchell, Jody (Brandy) Jensen of Commerce City, CO, brother, Jerry (Linda) Jensen of Gregory, grandchildren: Andrew and Lane, numerous nieces, nephews and his dear friends: Don and Doneen Ross, Holly, Shelly, Michelle, Jackie, Becca, Rod, Ken and all his customers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Allison Jensen.
