Gene Arthur Robertson was born March 9, 1960, at Ellsworth AFB at Rapid City, SD, to Donald and Beverly (Madsen) Robertson. His father served 20 years in the US Army so Gene spent the first 14 years of his life traveling the world as an army brat living in so many wonderful places.

Gene attended Lead High School. He served 4 years in the US Navy in San Diego. Following his honorable discharge, he enjoyed many adventures through the United States. He enjoyed being a cook in many different venues.

Gene, 57, died Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.

He is survived by his father, Donald Robertson; his step-mother, Hazel Robertson; sister, Judy (Mark) Geffre of Lead, SD; sister, Nancy Robertson of Spearfish, SD; nephew, Nicholas Geffre of Lead, SD; daughter, Amber Wychoff of Stockton, CA; and three grandchildren, Jared, Alexander, and Emily.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Robertson.

A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Chaplain Randy Bradley officiating. Inurnment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to Fort Meade Hospice.
