IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Grandville
Jackson, Jr.
June 16, 1949 – April 24, 2024
George Grandville Jackson, Jr., 74, Newell, SD, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD.
George was born to Mary Kathrine (Parrot) and George Jackson, Sr. in Paris, Tennessee. He was the oldest boy of six children; sister, Patricia Long; and four brothers, Eddie, and Randy Jackson, and Kenny, and RC Bridwell. As a teenager he enjoyed traveling the world with his military family. He also experienced working at Myrtle Beach in South Carolina – working on both the Boardwalk and on the old wooden roller coaster!
On January 6, 1975, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Jane Sellers. They soon added to the family with the birth of their daughter Denice. The family moved to Box Elder and resided there until 2000. George worked at the Canon Lake Supper until they moved to Newell where he started his Nogotta Ranch and irrigated farm. The family was kept busy with cattle, horses, chickens, and honeybees. For 30 years, until his retirement, he worked at Pete Lien & Sons as a welder, mechanic, fabricator and blaster.
George loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking for his loved ones and friends. But his greatest joy in love was his daughter: Denice (Dallas) Scott; grandchildren: Allissa (Greg) Riter, and Kyle Scott; and great grandchildren: Crisstopher Riter, Kaisynn Riter, Audrie Scott, Blakeleigh Riter, and Nataleigh Riter.
He was a beloved Brother, Husband, Father, Grandpa, Papa, and Friend. He was kind, humble, passionate, and loving; and although he could be thick, bullheaded and stubborn at times, he would give the shirt off his back for anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elizabeth, brother, Eddie Jackson, great grandchildren, and several family and friends.
