George Oliver Stafford Jr., 68, passed away on July 1, 2017 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center.

He was born on August 1, 1948 in Nantucket, MS to George Sr. and Elizabeth (Lafoutaine) Stafford.

George proudly served in the US Army from 1968 to 1972 during Vietnam.

He married his wife, Wanda on August 5, 1990 in Spearfish. They made their home in Rapid City where George worked as an Animal Control Officer.

This good man leaves behind his wife, Wanda (Evans) Stafford, Rapid City; mother, Elizabeth McDaniel, Belle Fourche; sons, James (Jodie) Stafford, Jamesville, MN and Donny (Rebecca) Altic, Lawton, OK; daughter, Jennifer (Donald) Owens, Jamesville, MN; grandsons, James Stafford Jr., Wyatt Stafford, and Jeremy Owens; granddaughter, Jessica Owens; and a great granddaughter, Ameila Owens.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, George Stafford Sr. and James McDaniel; and grandson, Derek Owens.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at 9:00 am on July 5, 2017 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A luncheon will follow at 11 am at the American Legion Post 22, 818 East St. Patrick in Rapid City.
