Jack was born January 12, 1925, at Draper, SD, to Harvey and Hilda (Dewey) Hubbard. The family moved to Vale, SD, in 1935, where they lived for a few years before moving to a farm north of Vale. Jack attended school in Vale.

Jack married Anna Belle Reid on June 30, 1949, in Belle Fourche, SD. He worked in a lumber yard in Kadoka where Ann taught school. Jack and Ann then moved backed to Belle Fourche and began many business ventures. Jack contracted Guillain-Barre' Syndrome 35 years ago. It slowed him down but never stopped him. Jack was a great story teller and will be remembered for all his tales.
