Glenn A. Peterson, 84, Sturgis, passed away peacefully into God's arms, Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at the Fort Meade VA Hospital.
Visitation was from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis and resume one hour prior to services on Friday.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, with Chaplain Bill Zandri officiating. Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard followed at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Glenn was born Oct. 20, 1921, at Melrose, Wis., to Anton and Gladys (Johnson) Peterson.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II and was honorably discharged. After serving his country, he was employed as a miner for the Homestake Mining Company in Leade for many years.
Glenn married Renee J. Mignard Hunt at Newcastle, Wyo., on Sept. 24, 1950.
Glenn liked to travel and was a member of a "Rock Hound" club.
He will be remembered as a caring grandfather.
Survivors include his three step sons and their wives, Thomas and Margaret Hunt, Sturgis, James and Dee Tresley, Reno, Nev., Charles and Gayle Tresley, Oakhurst, Calif.; one step daughter and her husband, Leona and Wilbur Flowers, Carson, Wash.; one brother, Stanley Peterson, Cottage Grove, Ore.; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Renee, parents, two brothers, one grandson and one sister-in-law.
