Gloria Ailene Carlson, 78, Rapid City, passed peacefully Monday, January 9, 2017, at Rapid City Regional Hospice House surrounded by her loving family as she entered into heaven.
Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
Gloria was born in Antiock, NE, August 5, 1938 to Orval and Marion Hudson. She enjoyed school, was a majorette in marching band, and later became homecoming queen.
She met the love of her life, Clifford Horst, while she was a waitress at the Best Western Café in Lead, SD. They were married June 29, 1958. Gloria raised her three children and had various jobs including waitress, nurse's aide, and retired from the Meade County School district as a teacher's aide.
After Clifford died she eventually married Palmer Carlson in April of 1996.
Gloria is survived by her two sons, Steven and Terry (Marion) Horst; daughter, Rebecca (David) Jorgensen; brothers, Bill, Larry, and Arthur Hudson; three sisters, Virginia, Barbara, and Mary Ann; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Alissa, Dean, Jewell, Guyla, Kimberly, Clifford and Gary; and seven great-grandchildren.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Orval; mother, Marion; brother, Richard; two sisters, Glenda and Wanda; and husbands Clifford Horst and Palmer Carlson.
