Gordon Wayne Bierle, 75, Sturgis, SD, died Thursday December 17, 2009 at his residence in Sturgis.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel from noon until 9 p.m. on Sunday with the family present at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 21, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Wesleyan Church in Sturgis with Chaplain Herb Cleveland officiating. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard.

Gordon was born July 24, 1934, to Herb and Grace (Dupic) Bierle in Lesterville South Dakota. After graduating from Scotland High School he joined the US Navy from 1952 to 1956.

He was married to Shirley Edwards on July 20, 1958, and they made their home in Sturgis where they raised their 3 kids, Donna, Ricky, and Debra. He worked at Fort Meade VA for 34 years, retiring in 1990.

Gordon loved spending winters in Yuma, AZ for the past 12 years, where he spent time soaking up the sun, cooking, and hosting parties. He was active in the Good Samaritans and Hillbilly Camping clubs. He enjoyed working in his woodworking shop and helping out at the farm.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Shirley, Sturgis; daughters Donna Loughlin, Sturgis; Debra (Darel) Casteel, Vale, SD; son Ricky (Linda) Bierle, Rapid City; grandchildren Kerri (Ryan) Benne, Kelli (Dustin) Cermak, Kayla Loughlin, Casey Bierle, Lacey Bierle, Justin Casteel(girlfriend Andrea Steele), and Shaun Casteel; great grandchildren Brady and Madison Benne, Alexis Cermak; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by both parents and brother Laverne.
