It is with great sorrow for our family to announce the passing of Guy Robert White. Guy passed away peacefully, in his sleep, at Avantara Mt. View on Monday, June 3, 2024. He was 76 years old.

Guy was born in Elmira, New York on December 27, 1947. He was one of eight children to parents Robert and Hazel (Terry) White. Guy grew up and joined the Navy at a young age. He served for over 26 years on various submarines and ships all over the world.  After the Navy, Guy worked at the Rapid City Journal for several years. When he finally retired, he enjoyed the extra time for his hobbies of playing video games, pool or darts and even dancing. Guy spent his last years living at Holiday Hills Estates, where he was quite the lady charmer.

Guy is survived by seven siblings, Terry White, Nita Preddice, Doreen White, Raymond White, Linda Carruth and Roberta White. His six children, Leandra (Lola) Gebrakedan, Robert Trautner, Eric White, Sally McCaskey, Brittney Fitzpatrick and nine grandchildren.

Guy lived a very full life. To all he was known as a great storyteller, good friend and always there to fill your coffee cup. Guy was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, South Dakota. The service will commence at 1:30 PM and end at 2 PM. Military honors will be conducted by the US Navy Honor Guard.
