Harley passed away on July 15, 2011. He was born in Ladysmith, WI, to Leota (Statton) and John Helsing on August 31, 1943. Harley was married to Evelyn Maureen Pettit in Pine City, MN, August 13, 1961. They divorced August 31, 1990. In that union of marriage they bore 4 children; John James Helsing (Lina), Beaumont, CA, Charlotte Faith Labanske, Reedsburg, WI, Dale Arthur Helsing, Elko, NV, and Linda Rae Herndon (Rick), Lyndon Station, WI; seven grandchildren, Christine, Deirdrie, Johnny, Chad, Trenton, Jolina, and Joanna.
Harley married Melody Lynn Shoop on September 29, 1990, in Lead, SD. They lived in St. Onge.
As a young man, Harley worked in the woods. He worked construction most of his life working for Summit, Oftedal, and Del Hur Construction Companies. Harley retired in June of 2006. Harley was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved being outdoors. He loved playing pranks on people, being with family and friends, and having good times. He left a lasting impression with all he met. Harley was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed dearly.
Harley is preceded in death by his parents Leota and John Helsing, and a brother, Larry Helsing.
A celebration of life will be held on August 20, 2011, at the Casino Bar in Central City, SD. Food will be served starting at noon with celebration to follow.
Also, a celebration of life will be held, August 27, 2011, at Patti's Bar in Winter, WI. Food will be served starting at noon with celebration to follow.
