Harold Daniel Rose, 84, of Sturgis, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Fort Meade VA Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Les Potts officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service at Black Hill National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.

Harold was born July 5, 1927, in Chamberlain, SD, to Lester and Caroline (Springer) Rose. He grew up and attended school in Chamberlain. Harold worked as a farm hand and various other jobs until he entered the U.S. Army in February of 1952. He married Agnes Johanneson in 1963. Harold worked for Brule County, Quaker Oats, and Nieman Sawmill before going to work for his brother Earl's business, Roses Sanitation.

Harold is survived by sons, Roger (Kari) Rose of Box Elder and Clay Rose of Spearfish; daughter, Diane Rose of Spearfish; sister, Clara Atkinson of Fort Benton, MT; and grandchildren, Seth and Kristy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and brothers, Carl, Robert, and Earl.

A memorial has been established to the Fort Meade VA Hospice Unit.
