Harry W. Johnson, 86, longtime Meade County farmer, died Friday, September 11, 2009, at the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.
Visitation will be noon until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Rev. Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial will follow at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
Harry was born July 26, 1923, to Nels and Bessie (Fennema) Johnson at Volunteer, SD. He attended Wolff School and Sturgis High School.
On June 28, 1953, he married Clara May Middlebrook and they farmed and ranched east of Sturgis on his family's homestead until 1989 when they moved to Sturgis. Harry was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include two daughters, Laura (husband, Bill) Johnson, Reva, SD, and Marcia (husband, Kent) Martin, Sammamish, WA; seven grandchildren, residing in South Dakota and Washington; four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Leonard Johnson, British Columbia, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his beloved wife, Clara May.
Memorials have been established to Hospice of the Northern Hills and the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.
