Obituary

In the evening hour just after dark,

You could hear a low rumble across the sky.

It was a comforting sound,

One he recognized.

Closer and louder

The rumbling came.

It was as if he had heard

Someone calling his name.

He nodded his head

And closed his eyes.

One more breath in

And he realized,

The rumble, though low,

Was outside the door.

His time had come

And he wanted no more.

He hopped on the back,

Feeling so free;

Riding shot gun to heaven,

Right next to Big G.
