Hazel Alice Jaukkuri, 84, Newell, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at the Spearfish Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis and hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at the First Lutheran Church in Newell, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Newell.
Hazel was born July 11, 1921, at Lead, to Victor and Jennie (Hentila) Kosola. She grew up in the Horse Creek area and attended the Winkler School.
Hazel married Carl Oscar Jaukkuri at Pluma, on Aug. 6, 1938. They lived on Horse Creek for several years until they moved to Willow Creek. They retired and moved to Newell in 1988.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Jaukkuri, Newell; one daughter, Arlene Sundstrom, Newell; one sister, Noreen Richards, Newell; also five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, one son, Richard, one grandson, one great-grandson, three brothers, and one sister.
A memorial has been established.
