Helen Evadna Davis Alden was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.

Helen was born April 23, 1920 in the Opal vicinity to Raymond and Gladys (Tibble) Davis. She attended country grade school and high school in Faith, SD. She lived on the farm in Opal until 1936 when the family traveled to Oregon and Missouri. The family returned to South Dakota in 1938 and settled in Sturgis. On February 23, 1941, she married Leonard (Tex) Alden in Sundance, WY. Over their 55 years of marriage they lived in Sturgis, South Dakota, southern California, and Winner, South Dakota.

Helen lived her life for her family and her Lord. She is survived by her 3 children: Judy (Charles) Baker; Ken (Donna) Alden; and Shirley Mitchell, 10 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, and 4 great- great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Leonard (Tex) Alden, her sister Pauline Davis, brothers William Davis and Raymond Davis and her parents and son-in-law Thomas Mitchell.

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women and the Senior Citizen's Center where she and her husband faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels for years.

Funeral Services will be Monday, March 28, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis, SD. with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating.

Interment will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in Helen's name for Meals on Wheels and First United Methodist Church.
