Obituary

Helen Marian (Hart) Blare, 75, died on Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House after a final, and mercifully short, battle with cancer.

Visitation will be at Kinkade Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from noon to 7:00pm, with family present from 5:00 to 6:00pm.

Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Sturgis First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Denzel Nonhof and Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.

Helen was born on October 15, 1938, and raised on the Hart family farm at Hereford. She attended Lodge School through the eighth grade and continued her education at Sturgis High School. Helen married Jerry Humble in December of 1962, and to this union, their two children, Lori and Jason were born. They later divorced and Helen married V.N. Blare in January of 1978.

Helen worked in a number of career fields starting as a fondly remembered sales clerk at JC Penny in Sturgis. After several bookkeeping positions in Sturgis, Helen moved to Cody, Wyoming where she again worked in sales, as the bookkeeper for Harry Jackson Studios, then in real estate and mortgage lending. In Cody, Helen was an active member of the Elks Club and the VFW where she held offices in each. Throughout her adulthood Helen enjoyed a variety of activities including camping, fishing, playing in a dart league, snowmobiling, hunting, watching roping and rodeos, and bowling. She also enjoyed being with family and watching her children and grandchildren in a variety of sports and other events. Another one of Helen's greatest passions in life was being a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan!

Helen moved back to South Dakota in 2006 where she resided in Rapid City close to family and lifelong friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Kimbrough, Cheyenne, WY; son, Jason (Jodie) Humble, Kaycee, WY; sisters, Carol (Edsell) Roe, Rapid City, and Gleva (Gene) Stafford, Sturgis; brothers, Fred Hart, Sturgis, and Ed (Tawny) Hart Fennville, MI; grandsons, Dylan Crossland, Laramie, WY, Will Kimbrough, Laramie, WY, Wyatt Kimbrough, Cheyenne, WY, and Jarrett Humble, Kaycee, WY; three step-children, four step-grandchildren, and many special friends, nieces, nephews, and relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband, V.N. Blare, her parents, Kennard and Hazel (Arneson) Hart, her brother Bernie Hart, her stepson Patrick Blare, and a stillborn grandson, Evan Hart Kimbrough.

A memorial has been established and may be sent to Lori Kimbrough at 1836 Andover Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82001.
