Helen Alice (Norris) Edlund, 86, Spearfish, SD, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at the David M. Dorsett Home in Spearfish.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish with Pastor Kent Stillson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery south of Newell, SD.

Helen was born January 15, 1920 at Lebanon, South Dakota to Victor and Carrie (Crane) Norris. She grew up on a farm there and graduated from Gettysburg High School. She attended Black Hills Normal School in Spearfish and received her teaching certificate. Helen then taught at Hayward until her marriage to Clarence E. Edlund in Rapid City on December 22, 1941. After their marriage, they lived in the Whitewood and Sturgis areas where they operated dairy farms. In 1960, they moved to a dairy farm at Newell and retired in 1974, moving into Newell.

Following Clarence's death in 1989, Helen moved to Spearfish. In 2002, she moved to Garden Hills Assisted Living and later resided at the Dorsett Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Lynn) Laumer of Spearfish; five grandchildren, Terri (Scott) Garner of Spartanburg, SC, Tina (Sean) Farrell of Nashville, TN, Tim (Sara) Monner of Oak Forest, IL, Tracy (Brad) Jepson of Ankeny, IA, Karlie (Jamie) Piekkola of Crystal, MN; eight great grandsons, Steven and Matthew Garner, Jason and Joey Farrell, Aidan and Devin Monner, Christopher and Steffan Jepson; one brother, Ray (Carolee) Norris of Dayton, OR; two sisters, Dorothy (James) Pranger of Spearfish, Thelma Hepper of Gettysburg, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, her daughter, Darlyne Monner, two sisters and four brothers.
