Obituary

Helen Mae Hart was welcomed into heaven, surrounded by family, in her home in Rapid City, South Dakota, on May 14, 2022.

Helen was born on June 1, 1944, in Deadwood, SD, to Nicola and Joseph Bulat. She grew up in Lead, SD, where she graduated from high school in 1963. She married Robert Lowe to whom she had three children. She later divorced and eventually met her husband, James Hart, who had four children of his own. James and Helen traveled around a lot, due to James being in the navy. They eventually ended back in South Dakota, where they made a permanent residence. Helen was married to James up until his passing in 2000.

Growing up Helen attended beauty school, worked at Langer's Black Hills Gold, and Dr. Nelson's Chiropractic, where she later retired at age 63. Helen enjoyed everything that life had to offer and found beauty in everything. She always loved working in her yard and had a green thumb for just about anything. She also loved her trips to California with her sister.

She was always happy, had one of the best smiles that could light up a room, had the best sense of humor, and gave the best hugs. She loved cooking and would have a full meal made every night. Also, you can't forget her love for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! No matter if someone was watching TV or not, she would have to change the channel! She had a spark about her that made everyone in her presence happy. She had a heart of gold and loved everyone around her. Helen will be truly missed and never forgotten. She will always live within all of us.

Helen is survived by her children, Robert (Loretta) Lowe, Greg (Edward) Lowe, Kimberly Wood, James Hart, Jr., Christopher Hart, and Terry Hart; sister, Kathrine "Louise" Hart; grandchildren, Rhiann (Kendra) Lowe, Marianna (Jeremy) Miller, Ashley (Zach) Matsamas, Joseph (Shelby) Lowe, Jared Lowe, Jessica Lowe, Nick Wood, Emmaliegh Wood, Gavin Hart, Cooper Hart, Kinley Hart, and Aria Hart; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James Hart; mother, Nicola Bulat; father, Joseph Bulat; sister, Mary Jo Bulat; and daughter, Christina Hart.

Committal services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Black Hills National Cemetery.
