Obituary

Helen Leone Miller, 93, Sturgis, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Helen was born May 15, 1918, at Newell, SD, to John C. and Ruth C. (McVay) Mutchler. She grew up on the family's ranch near Sulphur where she attended rural school and school in Newell. She married Murray D. Miller on July 5, 1935, in Sturgis. They lived near Newell for two years then moved to the Sulphur area until the fall of 1945 when they moved to Sturgis where she has lived since. For many years, Helen was the bookkeeper for Key City Electric which she and Murray operated.

Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She was a Past President of the United Presbyterian Women and active in many church activities.

Survivors include one daughter, Camille Abeln, Sturgis; one son, Alan (Bernie) Miller, Gillette, WY; one brother, Erven Mutchler, Shelley, ID; one sister, Joyce Mills, Rapid City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son; one great-grandson; and two brothers.

A memorial has been established to Sturgis Regional Senior Care.
