Helen Emma (Beehler) Miller joined her heavenly Father August 6, 2021. She was born January 21, 1930, at White Owl, SD. Helen attended grade school in White Owl, attended high school for two years in Rapid City, then attended and graduated from Sturgis High School.
Helen married Edwin J. Miller October 24, 1948, in Sturgis. She helped Eddie (and his brother Ernie) with their taxi and school bus companies. She taught kindergarten for five years at Grace Lutheran Church. She went to work for Norwest Bank (Wells Fargo) in 1970, retiring after 20 years. Helen led a very active life, loved to ride her horses on their land in the Hills, feed wild turkeys out of her hand and raised numerous pets. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Mary Circle, Buttons and Bows Club, Black Hills Wranglers Riding Club, served on ELCW Conference Board for eight years, donated time for many years to the American Cancer Society and was treasurer for the White Plate Flat Trackers. She was an excellent cook, an active gardener and canned fruits and vegetables. She loved to play card and dice games with friends and family. Her house was always open to visitors.
She is survived by four sons: Dan (Marcia) of Vail, AZ, Jerry (Judy) of Volga, SD, Ken (Judy) of Missoula, MT, and Allen (Myrna) of Sturgis, SD; nine grandchildren: Cory, Kimberly, Tiffiany, Jason, Tonya, Erin, Todd, Jon-Paul, and Callie; eighteen great-grandchildren: Samantha, Brooke, Christopher, Rachel, Wyatt, Thomas, Luke, Kjerstin, James, Noah, Levy, Isaac, Judah, Destiny, Nicholas, Alessandra, Liliana, and Ezra; six great-great-grandchildren: Reagan, Colby, DaLayne, Jamison, Carson, and Macy; numerous step-grandchildren; and step- great-grandchildren; her sister, Mira Burke; and numerous nephews, and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Miller; parents, George and Helen (Hartzell) Beehler; sister, Barbara Stallbaum; brother, David Beehler; and granddaughter, Brittany Miller.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on August 27, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis with a visitation to begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mayo Clinic to further their Alzheimer's Research, or to Grace Lutheran Church Women.
