Henry was an active outdoorsman, an avid reader and pinochle player, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and trips to Deadwood in his later years. He was instrumental in organizing family reunions and keeping everyone connected, and was known for having just the right saying for every occasion.

Henry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ramona (Horst); their seven children, Debra (Dillard) Enright, David (Sherry) Scherer, Deanna Mattox, Doreen McGlade, Daniel (Amy) Scherer, Denise Noetzel, and Delphia (Kevin) Johnson; one stepson, Jim (Cheryl) Welckle. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; ten siblings; his grandson, Jesse Scherer; and his son-in-law, David Mattox.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church.
