Henrietta (Venhuizen) Nelson was born on Dec 18,1915 at her parents farm south of New Underwood, SD. When she was four years old her family moved to Holland. She attended school in Exloo, Holland until age ten when her family returned to USA. After living in Chicago and Canada her family moved to Wasta,SD. She finished her schooling in Wasta and then worked for a family in Rapid City.

Fred Nelson and Henrietta were married on April 30, 1936 in Rapid City, SD. To this union four daughters were born. They lived on a farm east of Sturgis near the Nelson's Homestead until 1945 when her family moved to a farm north of Sturgis. Fred and Henrietta left the farm in 1955 moving to a new home in Sturgis, SD. Henrietta worked at Lushboughs Hardware a few years after moving to Sturgis. She enjoyed her work there and became known as "Hardware Hank" which she was very proud of. She worked for 21 years before retiring. Henrietta and Fred spent their retirement years traveling across the US spending many winters in AZ. When their traveling days were over they lived in Black Hawk, SD close to their daughter, Joyce and Family. Their final home together was at the Heritage Apartments in their hometown of Sturgis, SD. Henrietta and her four daughters went to Holland to visit her relatives in May of 2005.

After her travels were over she purchased a home in Tucson, AZ. were she lived close to her daughter Jeanette. Beverly & Delores later moved to Tucson. She enjoyed having three of her daughters close by. She lived in Tucson for 7 years. While living in Tucson she loved playing Skip-Bo and Canasta card games with her neighborhood girlfriends. She crocheted many potholders and afghans she shared with family & friends. In 2014 her home was sold and moved to Legacy Center of Delano MN. There she enjoyed taking care of her apartment and getting to know her grandchildren, great- grandchildren & great-great grandchildren.

In Nov 2014 she suffered a stroke and moved to the Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo, MN. Henrietta is survived by her four daughter; Delores, Jeanette, Joyce, Beverly, one brother, Warmolt Venhuizen, 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Many friends & family.
