Henry F. "Stub" Kruse Jr., 84, Rapid City, died Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center.
Visitation will be 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Chaplain Bill Zandri officiating. Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
Stub was born September 4, 1925, at Hubbard, NE, to Henry Fredrick and Mary (Mullen) Kruse Sr. He grew up in South Sioux City, NE, and moved to Rockford, IL. Stub joined the Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He moved to Deadwood, SD, where he helped his father in a welding shop.
Stub married Donna Evelyn Webb at Deadwood, SD, on March 6, 1948. They moved to Rapid City in 1964. Stub was an over the road truck driver for many years and Donna was his "co-pilot". Stub always enjoyed hunting and fishing. After his retirement, he had more time to cut wood, mow the grass, and take care of his place. He was a go getter!
Survivors include two sons, Danny Joe (Kathy) Kruse, Elk Hart, IN, and Edward (Annette) Kruse, Rapid City; two daughters, Susan (Steve) Baker, Rapid City, and Sandy (Henry) Krause, Box Elder; two sisters, Maxine (Randall) Ingenthron, Forsythe, MO, and Anna (Rex) McBride, Wyoming, MI; seven grandchildren, Tina, Stephanie, Sheila, Amanda, Ed Jr., Brandy, and Allen; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew Jackson, Joshua, Shawn, Mandy, Samantha, Briana, Silus, and Julie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna in 2008; and one brother, Tony.
A memorial has been established.
