Obituary

Herman was born, January 27, 1939, in Kilgore, TX, to Wiley B. and Opal (Price) Perry. In 1949, his family moved to Sydney, NE, and then in 1960, he moved to Hot Springs. He married Lisa Schroth in 1963, and in 1969, the couple bought one-half interest in the 7-11 ranch where they worked and resided ever since.

Herman served in the National Guard in Nebraska and was a volunteer firefighter for 57 years. He was a great friend, dad, husband, and grandpa, and was an even better great-grandpa.

Herman Eugene Perry, 78, a longtime area rancher from Hot Springs, died with his boots on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at his home in Hot Springs.

Herman is survived by his wife, Lisa Perry, son, James Perry, and daughter, Theresa L. Perry, all of Hot Springs; granddaughters, Shelby Eckdahl (Aaron Christmann), Hot Springs, and Amanda Clark, Dickinson, ND; grandson, Monte Perry; great-grandchildren, Treyson, Karinna, and Cameron Walker, ND, and Syrenity Eckdahl and Christopher Christmann, Hot Springs; and his two best friends, Duane McClure and Klinton (Steph) Rittberger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rosemary Deeds and (Ouida) Dean Perry; and brother, James of Texas.

Services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to the family at PO Box 124, Hot Springs, SD 57747. They will go to support the Wildland Firefighters Association.
